My Experience: 24 Hours at London Fashion Week

Written By: Monique Lapointe

Hello lovelies! This past weekend I had the great pleasure of attending four different shows and presentations for London Fashion Week. I am here to tell you all about my experience.

I woke up bright and early Friday morning, headed over to Orly airport where I took a direct flight to Heathrow airport. From there, I took the “Heathrow Express” train directly into London. Luckily, I was able to check into my hotel early. I stayed at The Saint Georges Hotel in Soho, London. It was surprisingly very clean and modern. Considering I got a great deal off of Travelocity for this trip (living on that university student budget) , my expectations for the hotel were very low. I was extremely surprised when I found out my room had a huge bath tub!

After checking into my hotel and napping for a few hours, I headed over to my first show. Hosted by “The Wolves” company, I attended the Ekaterina Kukhareva presentation. The new collection was absolutely beautiful. It had these very strong, independent yet playful and girly vibes going on.

Afterwards I went over to see the Steven Tai show/presentation. The collection was called “Sleep now, work later”. This collection was very simplistic and modern. The look for the models was very natural. Not too much makeup, messy hair and round glasses. I would definitely wear an item from the collection on a lazy Sunday to get coffee and shop with my best friend.

With a few hours to spare before my last two shows, I decided to do some sightseeing. I walked to Buckingham palace and then to see Big Ben. Both were extremely beautiful and truly a sight for sore eyes.

The next presentation was Charli Cohen. The collection was more street style fixed with sportswear. Personally not my style, but I still thought the pieces were truly amazing. You could tell that a lot of time and patience was put into each article of clothing.

After Charli Cohen, I was directed to go into a small movie theatre to watch a screening of a collection called Preen Line. The idea was quiet interesting to me. Instead of having a presentation or runway show, the designer decided to make a small, two minute movie.

With four presentations/shows complete, it was time to go back to my hotel. I stopped by topshop and to get dinner with a friend I met at one of the presentations. Once back at the hotel, I took a bath, watched a movie and headed to bed.

The next morning I woke up bright and early (well 9 am which is considered pretty early for me), checked out of my hotel and headed to a meeting. After the meeting I got on my plane and left London. Even though my trip was short, it was definitely an amazing experience.
